A Class III Cultural Resource Survey of Approximately 7 Acres of Privately Owned Land, Pima County, Arizona
Author(s): David B. Tucker; Eric Peterson
Year: 2004
Summary
On January 30, 2004, SWCA® Environmental Consultants (SWCA) conducted a cultural resources inventory of 7 acres of land in Pima County, Arizona. This survey was conducted in anticipation of future land development two parcels. The survey was required under Pima County’s regulations concerning cultural resources and was conducted at the request of Mr. William L. DiVito of Shannon Business Park L.L.C.
The 7 acres within this project area were thoroughly examined, and a portion of one previously recorded archaeological site, AZ AA:12:869 (ASM), was found. This site consisted of a prehistoric Hohokam artifact scatter on the surface that has been shown elsewhere to contain significant subsurface deposits (Tucker 2003). There is also a historic component associated with the site on the current parcel, consisting of a historic farm. This site is eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. If development cannot avoid the site, then archaeological testing and data recovery is recommended for the prehistoric component, along with archival research of the historic buildings.
