Summary

The proposed Trainer and Instruction Facility (TIF) Component of the Peacekeeper Program is a new building to be constructed within the F.E. Warren Historic District/National Landmark and within the historic boundaries of Cheyenne Depot, which has been determined to be eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The Air Force, in consultation with the Wyoming State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO), has determined that the project will have an adverse effect on the District/Landmark and on archeological remnants of Cheyenne Depot (48-LA-106). The adverse effect to the District/Landmark will result from alteration of the setting and surrounding environment of the area, which constitutes a visual effect. The adverse effect to 48-LA-106 will result from removal of an intact archeological feature as a part of construction-related site preparation work. The adverse visual effect on the District/Landmark will be minimized through the design process, and the adverse effect to 48-LA-106 will be mitigated through implementation of an archeological data recovery and monitoring program.
