Part of the F.E. Warren AFB Project Metadata project
Author(s): Norton Air Force Base; Mark Junge; Dennis Madden; Richard Bryant; Jane Carolan
Year: 1984
Summary
The proposed Missile Maintenance Facilities (MMF) Modifications Component of the Peacekeeper Program consists of alterations and/or additions to the Missile Support Facility (Building 332), Missile Maintenance Shops (Building 336), and Missile Maintenance Support Facility (Building 340) located within the F.E. Warren Air Force Base (AFB) Historic District/National Landmark near Cheyenne, Wyoming. The Air Force, in consultation with the Wyoming State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO), has determined that this Program Component will have an adverse effect on Buildings 332 and 336 as well as visual effects on the Historic District/National Landmark in the vicinity of these facilities. Adverse effects include modifications of scale and massing, penetration or blocking of historic fabric, and construction of connective roofing systems. These effects will be minimized for the most part through the design process. An unavoidable adverse impact will occur where a door is required to link the proposed Maintenance Processing Facility (MPF) with Building 332.
Although no archeological resources have been identified, it is possible that as yet unidentified archeological resources may exist in the project vicinity. Adverse effects to significant archeological resources, if present, will be mitigated following procedures established in the Peacekeeper Program Cultural Resources Management Plan and the Construction Management Plan.
