Little Freeman Cave, MO (23PU565) Project
Little Freeman Cave (23PU565) is a large cave (25 m x 28 m with a current ceiling height of 6 m) situated in the oak-hickory forest on the south facing bluff overlooking the Big Piney River in the Central Ozark Highland in the Fort Leonard Wood military reservation in Pulaski County, Missouri. Phase II testing at the site in 1996 and more extensive excavations in 1997 by the Illinois State Museum (under the direction of Dr. Steven Ahler), under contract with the United States Army Corps of...
Little River-Buffalo Creek Special Land Disposal Tract 1983
This collection is referred to as “Little River-Buffalo Creek Special Land Disposal Tract 1983.” This name is consistent throughout the finding aid, the file folders, and the box labels. The extent of this collection measures twelve (12.0) linear inches. The investigation was originally stored in an acidic cardboard box sealed with tape with other investigations from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, Strom Thurmond Lake subject property. Field and analysis forms, site maps...
The Llano Crossing Site (41MS78), A Deeply Stratified Prehistoric Site in the Llano River Terraces, Mason County, Texas (2021)
On behalf of the Texas Department of Transportation, SWCA Environmental Consultants conducted data recovery investigations of the Llano Crossing site (41MS78) as part of the Ranch-to-Market Road 1871 bridge replacement project (project) (CSJ: 1753-01-017) in Mason County, Texas. Conducted from February 6 to March 21, 2019, the field investigations revealed a deeply stratified multicomponent prehistoric site that includes sparse but isolable occupations of multiple intervals from Paleoindian...
Long Branch Lake Survey 1974-1978
The Long Branch Lake Survey 1974–1978 was authorized under the Flood Control Act of 1965 (Grantham 1986:1). The investigation was initiated because the construction of Long Branch Lake would directly impact and result in the loss of significant archaeological data. Since preservation was unfeasible, the USACE, Kansas City District, contracted with Northeast Missouri State University to recover archaeological data in order to mitigate the effects of construction. Between the summer of 1974 and...

MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS AND AMS RADIOCARBON DATING OF SOIL SAMPLES FROM SITE 5WL6465, WELD COUNTY, COLORADO (2011)
Soil samples from between and below two stacked metates sitting atop a hearth at site 5WL6465 in northeastern Colorado were examined for macrofloral remains. Charcoal fragments recovered from the samples were submitted for AMS radiocarbon dating. This site is a multicomponent site containing diagnostic projectile points from the Middle Archaic (3000-1000 B.C.) and Late Prehistoric (A.D. 150-1540), as well as ceramics from the Middle Ceramic (A.D. 1150-1540). Macrofloral analysis is used to...
MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS AT SITE 5MF4929, NORTHWEST COLORADO (2003)
Three samples from the stratified fill from a large Middle Archaic pit at site 5MF4929 in northwest Colorado were examined for macrofloral remains. A single sample from the homogeneous fill of a small, shallow oxidized basin also was floated to recover macrofloral remains; however, the feature yielded a modern date of 118.71 ± 0.72 pmc (Beta-182157) and likely represents burned modern trash. These features were discovered during road construction activities for the Cobb State #1 access and...
MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS OF HEARTH FILL AT SITE 48AB1878, WYOMING (2010)
Fill from a hearth with fire-cracked rock at site 48AB1878 in southeast Wyoming was floated to recover charred macrofloral remains. This site is a multicomponent site with chipped stone tools and debitage, fire-cracked rock scatters, and diagnostic artifacts from the Middle and Late Archaic periods as well as the Late Prehistoric period (Adams 2009). Sagebrush charcoal from the hearth returned a date of 2940 ± 40 BP (Beta 263534). Macrofloral analysis will be used to provide subsistence...
MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS OF HEARTH FILL FROM SITES MOC SD 3-4-2 AND 48SW10697 (MOC WAM 2-4-18), WYOMING (2006)
Samples from the fill of four hearth features at site MOC SD 3-4-2 and one hearth feature at 48SW10697(MOC WAM 2-4-18) were examined for macrofloral remains. These sites represent large prehistoric camps in southern Wyoming. The hearth from 48SW10697(MOC WAM 2-4-18) and one of the hearths from MOC SD 3-4-2 represent Middle Archaic occupations of the area with radiocarbon dates of 3810 ± 50 BP and 3620 ± 50 BP, respectively. A Late Archaic occupation is represented by Hearth 24 (1670 ± 60...
MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS OF SAMPLES FROM HEARTHS AT SITE 5BL153 (1994)
Samples from six hearths at Site 5BLl53 in northern Colorado were examined for macrofloral remains. This site is a multicomponent site, and the hearths represent late Archaic, Middle Archaic, and late Prehistoric occupations. Macrofloral analysis is used to provide information concerning woods used as fuel and plants processed at the site.

Franktown Cave is a large rockshelter in Douglas County, Colorado, that experienced multiple occupations from at least the Middle Archaic through the Protohistoric periods. A large amount of material has been collected in the cave from five separate excavations dating to the 1940s, 1950s, and 1976 including chipped stone artifacts; ground stone; potsherds; perishable artifacts such as fiber, hide, bone, and wood; and ecofacts such as com, other plant remains, animal bone, shell, and wood. Madison Point Refits (2014)
This table describes 114 Madison Point refits (point tips, point mid-sections, point bases). One triple match was made between a point base, a mid-section, and a tip. A mid-section and tip formed a refit, as did 10 mid-sections with 10 bases. One hundred and two point bases were refit with tips.
