This document is an extension of work begun by William A. Lucius, and its substance owes much to his foresight in the design of the Dolores Archaeological Program ceramic analysis system. Scott Travis authored a draft research design for ceramics which was helpful during the writing of portions of the present version. Dean Wilson and Rob Waterworth provided intense discussions of the interpretation of ceramic data, and their arguments and ideas have shaped and continue to shape...

Using artifact density and the presence/absence of features, 32 sites beyond those identified by Kay (1975) were defined. In 1995, test...

Amerind Pleistocene Lake I, The Archaeology of the Willcox Playa (1985)
Our 1985 survey of the Willcox Playa environs resulted in a wealth of Archeological data, the findings of which are presented in the following chapters. We have added to the Archaic database from the Cazador through San Pedro stages of the Cochise sequence, and suggest a tentative Archaic settlement system integrated with local habitats and accompanying resources. Though it is a partial picture, the ceramic period settlement system is also beginning to emerge. Our knowledge of the early ceramic...

The Ancient Socioecological Systems in Oman (ASOM) Project
The Ancient Socioecological Systems in Oman (ASOM) project examined how the environment influences human territorial behavior in pastoral ecosystems as well as how territoriality in turn shapes the environment. ASOM came from a local Jebali-language term (ʾasὑm) for a type of stone monument used for burial and other purposes in antiquity (al-Shahri 1991: 184). We are an interdisciplinary group of scientists using archeological and ecological techniques to examine whether and how climate and...
Applications Manual for Portable Magnetometers (1999)
This Manual is intended for use as a general guide for a number of very diverse applications of portable magnetometers, especially the total field proton (nuclear precession) magnetometers. The diversity of applications and the general complexity of magnetic field measurements limits the depth to which any one subject can be covered, but further information, if desired, can be obtained through the author or from any of the references cited. Among the applications for which this Manual is...
