POLLEN ANALYSIS OF BRACKISH ESTUARY SEDIMENTS, MAUNALUA, OAHU, HAWAI’I (2010)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Linda Scott Cummings.

A single sample from a gleyed, organic-rich sandy layer within deposits identified as representing a brackish estuary for the Maunalua 2 Project was examined for pollen in an effort to confirm that this area was used as a fish pond. In addition, pollen analysis has the potential to identify some of the local plants growing at the time this area was used.

POLLEN ANALYSIS OF CANAL TRAVERTINE, TEHUACAN VALLEY, MEXICO (2000)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Linda Scott Cummings.

Pollen samples were examined from two separate field seasons: 1993 and 2000. The first pollen study was undertaken to evaluate the potential for pollen recovery from a variety of proveniences such as abandoned agricultural fields, tecoates and travertine, as well as different types of soil horizons. Evidence of agriculture and accompanying agricultural weeds was sought in the agricultural samples. Recovery and identification of pollen was attempted and evaluated for samples from the...

POLLEN ANALYSIS OF FIVE ADDITIONAL TERRACES AT MACHU PICCHU, PERU (2002)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Linda Scott Cummings.

Previous testing on five terraces at Machu Picchu yielded a wide variety of pollen representing grasses, cloud forest plants, and agricultural crops. Previously, pollen samples were examined from three depths on five terraces to assess the quality of pollen preservation, provide a pollen record of plants growing on and near the terraces, and identify the presence of any agricultural crops (Cummings 2000). That study yielded sufficient pollen preservation and a wide variety of pollen...
