This archeological survey was prepared to identify and document any cultural resources in two areas near the West Gate – 4 acres west of East Fork Sand Creek and 12 acres east of the creek. No archaeological or historic sites or isolated finds were observed. Only recent historic cultural remains were observed and these are most likely due to recent military activities in the area.

A Cultural Resource Inventory of Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado Springs, Colorado (1985)
An inventory of 1,000 acres of Peterson Air Force Base completed in 1985 was restricted to the central and southern portions of the Base. One site consisting of 5 extant buildings was discovered and is believed to be eligible for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places. This is the original Colorado Springs Municipal Airport Deco/Art Modern architectural style.
