In 1998 Archeological survey was completed on several parcels of woodland on the Shivwits Plateau that are scheduled for prescribed burning within the boundaries of Lake Mead National Recreation Area (LAME) by archeologists from the Western Archeological and Conservation Center (WACC) and the LAME Cultural Resources Division. During May of 1999 a WACC archeological crew surveyed 700 acres on the southern Shivwits Plateau to identify cultural resources in planned burn units and preceding trail maintenance on Mt.
