Notes
General Note: During the third quarter of the Fiscal Year, the functions, equipment and accumulated files of the River Basin Surveys were transferred from Washington, D.C. to Lincoln, Nebraska. As of late February, the change was considered to be completed. The River Basin Surveys constitutes an autonomous unit of the Smithsonian Institution reporting directly to the Chairman, Smithsonian Office of Anthropology. All River Basin Surveys activities are now directed by Dr. Warren W. Caldwell, utilizing the facilities and personnel formerly designated as the Missouri Basin Project. The Missouri Basin Project has been dropped as an administrative unit.
