Summary

At the request of Chris Ewell, City of Phoenix (COP) Parks and Recreation Department, and Laurene Montero, City Archaeologist, Archaeological Consulting Services, Ltd. (ACS) conducted archaeological monitoring of ground disturbing activities during renovations at Hermoso Park in Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona. In the Archaeological Assessment report prepared by the City Archaeology Office (CAO) for this project, dated August 29, 2012, it was noted that a prehistoric canal was projected to cross the project area. The CAO recommended that monitoring be conducted within 50 ft of the projected canal alignment. ACS’ archaeological monitoring of project construction activities within this 100-ft-wide corridor across the project parcel took place intermittently between March 19 and May 16, 2013. No significant cultural resources were identified.
