Archaeological Site Relocation, Testing, and National Register of Historic Places Evaluation of Selected Prehistoric and Historic Archaeological Sites Volume I: Final Phase II Report, Addendum Volume II: Appendix A - Updated Site Forms
Summary
The Environmental Management Office at Warren Air Force Base requested archaeological site relocation, testing (if necessary), and site form revisions for selected historic and prehistoric archaeological sites on the base west of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Warren Air Force Base requested the work as part of its comprehensive plan to locate, evaluate, and nominate cultural resources for listing on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP), to comply with Section 110 (a) 2 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 (as amended). The information gathered during this study will be incorporated into the base's Cultural Resource Management Plan (CRMP), which is currently being updated as part of the scheduled 5-year revision to the CRMP. The fieldwork component of the project for the original Delivery Order proceeded in two stages--site relocation and rerecording of the 30 archaeological sites, followed by subsurface testing of eight of the prehistoric archaeological sites. The fieldwork component of the project for Modification 1 of Delivery Order 99 included site relocation and rerecording of 21 archaeological sites (one additional site was added during the course of the fieldwork). No subsurface testing was conducted for the sites reported in this document.
