Archaeological monitoring for this project was recommended due to the proximity of two important traditional Hawaiian sites: 50-80-15-4852 and 50-80-15-4853. No archaeological materials, cultural horizons, features, artifacts, or human burials were identified during archaeological monitoring. The BAFS cabin replacement project had no adverse effect on cultural resources and no further archaeological investigations are recommended.

The project proposed by the AMP is designed to identify historic project properties that might be exposed during the undertaking and to treat them appropriately. The ground disturbing activities that were monitored consisted of excavation for new septic tank systems at three locations, along with the removal of the existing cesspool systems. A single human burial was inadvertently discovered at the BAFS-6 work site.
