In general, the field contains a brief description of the context (e.g., portion of the site, unit area, and/or feature numbers) and the state of the items being photographed. "FINAL" designates a photograph of an excavated feature after all investigation has ended. "ROLL ID" designates a photo that identifies the roll.

TRENCH_NUMBER The number of a given trench in a photograph.

ROLL_ID Identifies the roll of film on which a photo was taken. Letter ids (A, B, C, etc) were used to identify color rolls. Number ids (1,2,3, etc) were used to identify black/white rolls. It is important that the ROLL-ID # and the FRAME # remain associated in order to identify photographs. For each ROLL-ID, the FRAME #s range from 1 to the last frame number for that roll.
