Pueblo Grande (AZ U:9:1(ASM)): Unit 08, Pueblo Grande Cultural Park: SSI PG Museum Expansion Data Recovery, Rough Sort Ceramic (RS_CERAMICS) Data

Summary

The Pueblo Grande Museum Data Recovery project Ceramic Rough Sort (RS_CERAMICS) data sheet contains data from the rough sort analysis of ceramics recovered during the PG Museum Expansion data recovery project. It contains information on ceramic types, tempers and counts; it also records vessel and rim forms where applicable. The data sheet also contains rim circumference and rim diameter measurements for some ceramic specimens. Please see the Pueblo Grande Museum Data Recovery Project final report (http://core.tdar.org/document/373084) for a discussion of the ceramic data.

BIGINT  Coded Value Ceramic : Form Soil Systems, Inc. Vessel Rim Lip Shape Coding Sheet none true
TEMPER A basic description of the temper type identified in a ceramic artifact, predominantly pottery sherds and vessels. Many of the temper types describe particular types of geologic types and/or raw materials (e.g., schist, phyllite, micah and quartz sand, etc.). Some temper type designations include geographic source information with a raw material description (e.g., Squaw Peak schist).
BIGINT  Coded Value Ceramic : Other Soil Systems, Inc. Ceramic Temper Coding Sheet none true

BIGINT  Coded Value Ceramic : Form Soil Systems, Inc. Vessel Form Coding Sheet none true
WEIGHT The measured weight of (in grams) of the ceramic artifacts from the same FS and with the same ceramic type, temper type, and vessel form.
BIGINT  Measurement (gram) Ceramic : Weight none none true
ARTIFACT_TYPE The general artifact type of a given artifact specimen from a particular PD unit. Please refer to the Soil Systems, Inc. Artifact Type Coding Sheet for a list of all available artifact types.

Notes

General Note: Soil Systems analysts stored all provenience and artifact data for post-Hohokam Expressway Pueblo Grande projects in a relational database program called Advanced Revelations (AREV). The provenience and artifact data tables were standardized within this database. Thus, the ceramic data tables from this project and other Pueblo Grande projects were created in a table named RS_CERAMICS_DATA, and saved in this table. The data sheet presented here has been extracted from the RS_CERAMICS_DATA table in SSI's AREV database.

General Note: The ceramic data from this project should be directly compatible with the ceramic data from all other Soil Systems, Inc. Pueblo Grande projects, because the data were created in a standardized format (see above). Users can easily integrate this ceramic data with the data from other SSI projects.

General Note: Please note that SSI recorded the Pueblo Grande number as AZ U:9:7(ASM), which is the designation for a portion of Pueblo Grande. The correct number for the site as a whole is AZ U:9:1(ASM).
