Historic Archaeology on the Dolores Archaeological Project, Dolores, Colorado
Summary
The Dolores Archaeological Program historic studies crew conducted fieldwork on a river valley area assigned as the first-year impact zone. The historic studies crew field research centered on inventory for evidence of activity from the historical period. The historical evidence was either recorded as an isolated find or a site. The historic studies crew designated an isolated find as incomplete or inconclusive human activity evidence and a site was defined as stand-alone human activity evidence of a phenomenon that was historically important. To record evidence as either an isolated find or a site, the historic studies crew mapped and measured all features that were found, noted architectural details, and took photographs.
