Summary
In 1985, the Bureau of Reclamation directed the Cultural Resource Management Division of the Arizona State Museum to develop a research design for data recovery at 15 selected archaeological sites along the Phase B alignment of the Tucson Aqueduct portion of the Central Arizona Project. Phase B included Reaches 4, 5, and 6 of the alignment. The sample included five Hohokam settlement sites: Fastimes (AZ AA:12:384 [ASM]), Waterworld (AZ AA:16:94[ASM]), AZ AA:16:97(ASM), AA:16:104(ASM), and AA:16:161(ASM); two protohistoric sites: AZ AA:11:26(ASM) and AA:16:159(ASM); four limited activity sites: AZ AA:12:383(ASM), AZ AA:12:465(ASM), AZ AA:12:481(ASM), and AZ AA:12:484(ASM); and four quarry sites: AZ AA:16:95(ASM), AZ AA:16:96(ASM), AZ AA:16:157(ASM), and AZ AA:16:175(ASM). Investigations focused primarily on the two Colonial period, Rillito phase Hohokam villages, but all sites were examined to answer research questions about chronology, site organization, exchange, and subsistence in the Avra Valley.
