Versar’s assessment of sites 28BU526 and 28BU519/530 suggests that the sites did sustain damage from recreational activity, but that the overall eligibility status of the sites does not appear to have been affected. This is the original National Register of Historic Places nomination form for the Hanover Furnace historic property. Hanover Furnace dates from the post revolutionary period and contained an iron furnace, iron master's house, workers houses, and a sawmill. The furnace supported a community of over 200 people and lasted until the raw materials were depleted in the 1840's.
