On June 22, 2012 a construction contractor at the Consolidated Communications Facility construction site, Cannon Air Force Base, discovered what appeared to be historic trash in a backhoe trench. Following the discovery, workers stopped all activity at the site, collected and boxed the displaced bottles, and fenced the area to ensure that no additional disturbance would occur at the site until it could be assessed.
